The skyscraper in Bahrain, called the World Trade Centre, is a pioneer project with exciting possibilities. The three windmills on the building will function as a supplement to the energy supply of the building, which consists of more than 50,000 m² offices and shops. The windmills will be placed on three bridges that connect the two 240 m tall towers. Each mill has a diameter of 29 m and will be mounted at a height of 60, 96 and 132 m respectively. “This is the first time ever that windmills are integrated in a construction of this calibre,” Lars says.
Professional challenges
From a professional point of view, the Bahrain project has offered several exciting challenges for Lars and his team: “The project has a lot of different facets and during the process there have been many different things to consider, especially because it is the first time a project like this is completed. And this is exactly what motivates me - being a part of something new and gathering experiences that can be used in other projects,” says Lars.
“We are working on a similar project in Dubai, where we are going to integrate three windmills in one of the world’s largest skyscrapers – and here our knowledge and experience from the project in Bahrain will be valuable and very useful.“
Flair for project managing
Lars has not had a certain plan for his career in mind, but thinks his career has developed naturally.
“The first couple of years I worked for a small company and did not have the same possibilities as here in Ramboll. At Ramboll I have had the possibility to show that I can take on the responsibility for a project – and I like it,” Lars explains. “I believe that I have a good and natural ability to coordinate and manage projects. When I am working on a project, I am not the quiet type who just sits and waits – I like to be involved in the decision-making process.”
