“I heard about Ramboll through a recruitment agency. When I first visited the office, I immediately liked the atmosphere. Also, the opportunity to participate in international projects really appealed to me”, Anna explains.

Full-scale environmental calculations

Anna is currently working with environmental consulting for operating plants.  A large car manufacturing plant was recently built in Saint-Petersburg. Anna managed the design preparation of the environmental documentation for the plant, which included getting permissions for emission and for discharge into the surface water as well as for the limits of waste disposal.

“I have been involved in this project from the very beginning, that is, from the pre-project stage until the plant operation stage. At the moment, my role is to support the operating plant from an environmental point of view. The plant is in a so-called Common Sanitary Protection Zone, meaning that 6-7 plants are grouped together. This makes it quite complicated to calculate common emission and noise levels”, Anna says.

When asked what she finds most interesting about this and other projects, she says: “Everything! I enjoy designing the environmental documentation and providing sustainable solutions and recommendations for the client”.

International experience

Colleagues from Ramboll in Norway recently invited Anna to take part in one of their projects. They are involved in the design of several industrial plants located in Russia and needed Anna’s environmental and local experience.

“Part of the task was to get test results from soil samples, which had been taken from the plant sites. Some of the Norwegian engineers brought the samples to Saint-Petersburg and I transferred the samples to the local laboratory and now supervise the process to make sure that everything will be done correctly. I will then report the results back to Norway. Tasks like this one make my job more interesting and less ordinary”, Anna says.

Continuous learning

Anna is quick to mention what she likes best about working for Ramboll:
“I enjoy the complicated projects that I am involved in. It is great to work on diverse assignments and in different areas. And it gives me the possibility to obtain the right experience and develop my competences. In this job I really do learn permanently. Also, I am very pleased to be involved in international projects. I really enjoy meeting my international colleagues”.
